Season Greetings!

We are in the heart of the holiday season with the New Year fast approaching.  This is a time to gather with friends and family and embrace the memories of holidays past as well as looking ahead to the holidays yet to come.

We must be sure to not allow the holidays to take our attention away from safety, which can instantly turn a cherished memory into a nightmare.

As you enjoy the use of candles and fireplaces please remember to not allow candles to burn unattended and be sure that fireplace ashes are placed in a METAL container and placed outside and away from the building to insure they have ample time to safely cool (many days).

For those who adorn their homes with live Christmas Trees, remember to water daily and remove them from the home when they show signs of drying out.  A click to this video link will show you how quickly are Christmas Tree Fire can grow if not watered properly.   http://www.nfpa.org/safety-information/for-consumers/holidays/christmas-tree-fires .

I wish to extend a sincere thank you to all the men and women of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company and The Women's Auxiliary who regardless of the season stand ready to respond to those who need our help.  It’s my wish that you all are blessed with a quiet and safe holiday with your families, but in the event that duty calls, I am thankful for your dedication to help.

Sincerely,

Jim Baldis
